this silly jaring

well, they replied me again saying they were not liable...blah blah blah. Didn't mention their subscription to my newsletter though....

I was very tempted to email them to just deduct the monthly fee from my newsletter, but i see this going nowhere, so i'm just gonna ignore them. When the 2 year contract is up, i shall show them my proof that they are the ones that owe me money...heheheheh.

on another note, i have been confirmed in my job, and given a small salary increase. Somehow i still find myself not being able to really save. So this month when i got my salary, i immediately took out 500 and locked it in my dad's safe. i intend to do this every month to save up some cash to go to hong kong and they blow it all there...yahoo!

silly jaring

ok, i signed up with jaring isp around a year+ ago. The service wasn't great but the only choice for broadband in my apartment. After using it for a few months they say that they have a new plan and will automatically migrate users to their new plan. Embedded in their lengthy email was the notification that this new plan had a contract of 2 years. Existing customers who were paying on a month by month basis would be put on this contract as well, even though when they signed up the first time, there was not 2 year contract. If you, as the customer, didn't want this you had to email them.

To put things short, now I want to cancel their service but they are not letting me, citing their 2 year minimum subscription. I argue that when I signed the contract, i signed on for a month by month basis, no minimum subscription required. They then replied that because they had already informed me through email regarding the migration. This is the email that they sent for the migration(p.s - i have taken out the other unimportant stuff).

The minimum subscription period will be counted starting from your initial sign up date. All existing Home Basic and Home Standard subscribers will be migrated automatically to the new Standard Package unless we are informed otherwise.

Ok, when i complained and said that i don't think they can just make me be locked into this 2 year contract when i signed no such minimum subscription. They sent me this reply:

------Begin Email

Dear Sir/Madam,
We regret to inform you that JARING is shall not liable for any pre maturetermination. If you wish to terminate, you still need to pay for theremaining months which completes your 24 months contract.Your contract end will be on 7th May 2007.
For your information, we had sent an announcement to all existingcustomers on 10th of November 2005 about the migration. On thatannouncement, we had mentioned that if you would like to stay with ourexisting package, you should email us or call our customer service centernumber before 24th November 2005.
We also mentioned that all existing Home Basic and Home Standardsubscribers will be migrated automatically to the new Standard Packageunless we are informed otherwise. In this case, if customer fault to notaccessing the email for quite some time is beyond our control and itsupposed to be the responsibility of the customer.
Therefore, we advised you to resume the service or pay the remainingbalance as we have conveyed ample notice through email and website on themigration exercise.
Hope you will continue our service and we will try our best to give you abetter service in future.

Ok the ridiculous thing is that their wireless service doesn't come with an email address, so usually customers will use their webmail to sign out. What if something goes wrong with your webmail? Webmail is not a secure place to disclose something that important. Sometimes emails can get lost and not be received...is this a professional act by such a big company? As to publishing this information on their website...what? you expect me to check jaring.com.my everyday or something?

anyway, here was my reply to that.

------Begin Email

Dear jaring, i am happy to inform you to that you have been accepted to receive my new online newsletter service. The registration fee is RM 200 while the monthly access will be RM 150. If you are a new subscriber your minimum contract will be for 24 months starting from point of subscription. If you would like to cancel from this subscription please notify me immediately before 1:30 p.m. 11/08/06, otherwise you will be considered as subscribed

Thank you

------End Email

Since they believe that non-reply of an email constitutes a binding contract, jaring have officially signed up to my newsletter for RM 150 a month, since they did not reply to cancel this subscription before the above time. I guess now jaring owe me 200 ringgit plus 150 ringgit a month, after deduction of around 104 for my monthly subscription fee, they owe me 46 ringgit a month. Thanks Jaring! I hope you enjoy my monthly newsletters.

office politics?

ok, in our office we have a public server where you can put a folder with files that belong to you. This morning, i opened up my folder and found out that someone had created a folder with the name "William'sDog_Jordan" (william is the creative director of our company). Ooh! Someone hates me! In my folder i also received a letter called resign.txt, in which the template for a letter of resignation was written. only the name remained blank. Seeing this, i created a folder called "Aiyo, if you don't like me just say lah, why so coward one?" and put it there. Later during the day, i wanted to show one of my colleagues the folder, but when i opened up my folder the "William'sDog_Jordan" folder was deleted! Should've made a snapshot of it...heheheh. Anyway, i checked and the folder was created on friday 3pm.

Now, i have a fairly good idea who it could be. Mainly one of the staff that was at the company before me. I think that because i joined later but yet have risen up the "ranks" so soon has caused him to be jealous and that he thinks i am sucking up to the C.D or his "Dog" as he so eloquently puts it. Might also be because i was chosen to speak for the company for the animation pitch.

Now, back in the day when we were all busting our asses for the disney project, there was none of this. We were all united against the "evil management" and there were no politics among the staff at all. Now that things are peaceful, i guess there has to be someone else to blame/hate for their own inadequacies. Being extremely vocal, i guess I made an easy target. Or maybe someone found out how much I made and found it unfair... Lots of maybes but with no resolution. I don't really like playing these sort of petty games so i am just going to ignore it, if the person that did it is who i think it is, than he is merely a fly that is irritating till it gets smart and flies away or gets swatted. If its somebody else, then they sure have me fooled...heheheh.
